Final Exam: Thursday, December 9, 7:30 am - 9:30 am

Welcome to Calculus III.

The course is based on the book 'Calculus: Early Transcendentals (5th Edition)', by James Stewart.
This is the book that you were already using in Calculus I (1550) and Calculus II (1552).

Here are the rules of the Game:

  1. There will be two tests (80 minutes each, in class) on the following (tentative) days:

    Thursday, September 23, 2004
    Thursday, October 28, 2004

  2. The final exam will be a comprehensive exam.

  3. Homework will NOT be collected. However, we will be using a online homework system called WebWork.
The questions are similar to the ones that you find on the homework problem list. We will have 10 online homework assignments.

  4. We will have 5 unannounced 10-15 minutes quizzes, closely related to the homework assignments.
  5. The best 4 quizzes count.

  6. There will be no make-up quizzes or make-up exams.

  7. Calculators are NOT allowed and actually are not necessary.

It is normal to have problems with Calculus III, in particular at the beginning. You are highly encouraged to come to my office hours, pose questions in class (or by email) and, in particular, to discuss the material with your classmates.

There will be free math help for students on Monday through Friday in Allen 39. Times are: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM (mon.tues, wed, thurs) and 9:30 - 3:00 (Friday).

Class attendence is absolutely necessary and required. In case you will be unable to attend one session, please drop me an email.

Suggestions are always welcome.

Grading policy:

Quizzes 20 pts. each
Homework
10 pts. each
Tests 250 pts. each
Final 320 pts.

The final grade will be determined by the grading scale:

900-1000 points A
800-899 points B
700-799 points C
600-699 points D
There will be no curving.
