Welcome to Combinatorics

The course is based on the book 'Introductory Combinatorics, Fourth Edition', by Richard A. Brualdi.

Here are the rules of the Game:

  1. There will be two tests (80 minutes each, in class) on the following (tentative) days:

    Thursday, September 23, 2004
    Thursday, October 28, 2004

  2. The final exam will be a comprehensive exam.

  3. We will have 8 unannounced 10-15 minutes quizzes, closely related to the homework assignments.
  4. The best 7 quizzes count.

  5. There will be no make-up quizzes or make-up exams.

You are highly encouraged to come to my office hours, pose questions in class (or by email) and, in particular, to discuss the material with your classmates.

Class attendence is absolutely necessary and required. In case you will be unable to attend one session, please drop me an email.

Suggestions are always welcome.

Grading policy:

Quizzes 20 pts. each
Tests 260 pts. each
Final 340 pts.

The final grade will be determined by the grading scale:

900-1000 points A
800-899 points B
700-799 points C
600-699 points D
There will be no curving.
