Welcome to Complex Variables (MATH 4036).

The course will be based on the book

                                'Complex Variables and Applications',

by J. W. Brown and R. V. Churchill.


Here are the rules of the Game:

  1. There will be two tests (80 minutes each, in class) on the following (tentative) days:

    Thursday, February 16th, 2006
    Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

  2. The final exam will be a comprehensive exam.

  3. We will have 8 unannounced 10-15 minutes quizzes, closely related to
    the homework assignments. The best 7 quizzes count.

  4. There will be no make-up quizzes or make-up exams.

You are highly encouraged to come to my office hours, pose questions in class (or by email)
and, in particular, to discuss the material with your classmates.

Class attendence is absolutely necessary and required. In case you will be unable to
attend one session, please drop me an email.

Suggestions are always welcome.



Grading policy:

Quizzes 20 pts. each
Tests      
260 pts. each   
Final 340 pts.

The final grade will be determined by the grading scale:

900-1000 points A
800-899 points        
B
700-799 points C
600-699 points D
There will be no curving.
