Find out what you missed:
History of Hillel at LSU
Today Hillel consists of our re-envisioned executive board, advisor Dan Novak, interim Hillel staff Moshe Cohen, around 30 active members, and over 160 on our listserv!
In the wake of the hurricanes in Fall 2005, Hillel at LSU became nationally recognized by Hillel International and received attention from the Jewish Federations at the national and local levels.
Prior to Fall 2005, Hillel functioned mostly as a social organization for Jewish students.
The current incarnation of our Hillel first appeared in Fall 2002, at a time when there was virtually no Jewish life on campus. Sensing this absence, Rachel Spinner organized with Jeff Merlin, Rebekah Goldman, Jodi Hyman, and advisor Matt Wittenstein. That spring Daci Spielberger arrived, and Hillel was born out of only five members!
The remains of a previous incarnation can be found here.
