Hillel members spend winter break in IsraelSeveral of our members have been accepted into the Taglit-Birthright Israel trip through Kesher. Hillel International also offers trips by schools. If you're Jewish, age 18-26, and have never been on a peer-group trip to Israel, Hillel offers the best ways for you to have the time of your life in Israel. If you are interested in spending next year's winter break with other LSU students, let us know ahead of time so we can plan a trip. Hillel members featured in the campus paper!Our very own Kyle Goldich, President and Founding Member of Sigma Alpha Mu, VP of the Business College, an LSU Ambassador, a Group Leader of Stripes, and of course a former Executive Board member of Hillel, was crowned Homecoming King on September 23rd, 2006. Our very own James Bullman, President of Tigers for Israel, was featured in the LSU Daily Reveille on the first day of school. Read "WAR and PEACE". Our very own Moshe Cohen, past Interim Program Coordinator and current treasurer, was featured in the LSU Daily Reveille this summer. Read "To be Jewish at LSU". Hillel member studying abroad in IsraelAcademic Affairs has approved the appeal by Hillel member Stephen Blitz to participate in LSU's Student Exchange Agreement with Tel Aviv. Blitz was first turned down because of the travel advisory by the State Department concerning travel to Israel. Follow along with Stephen throughout the year on his personal photo-blog site http://www.LSUinISRAEL.com. If you would like to study abroad in Israel during your time at LSU, please contact us immediately, and we will provide you with information as to how to navigate through the administration. CSLI recognizes HillelLSU: The Center for Student Leadership and Involvement recognized Hillel for two awards this April: one for "Most Outstanding New Student Organization" and the other for "Program of Excellence" for Sukkot's week of events. Present at the reception were advisor Dan Novak, nominated for Advisor of the Year, senior Rachel Spinner, nominated for the Legacy award, and Moshe Cohen, Interim Program Coordinator and major facilitator of the Sukkot program. Tina Gargotta, nominated for the Unsung Hero award, was unable to attend. Although Hillel, having registered during the previous year, is not officially a new organization, it won the award based on its outstanding revival. (see pictures)
