The project for Math 2025 is an optional assignment worth 100 points(=one exam).

  • Due, Thursday, 4 December
  • Written report: 5-10 pages
  • References important: Must includes books and journal articles.
  • May be an implementation of a wavelet algorithm: Mathematica, matlab, Maple.
  • Outline due: Tues., 25 Nov. One page with at least 3 references.

    • Possible Topics

  • Description of a particular wavelet and its properties: orthogonality, continuity, ... (e.g. Daubechies, Gabor, Mexican Hat, etc.)
  • Implementation and description of an algorithm to compute wavelets
  • Describe an application of wavelets to photography, sound processing, data analysis, ...
  • Write a report on Exercises 1-6 for Kristian Sandberg's Labs (Fourier, Haar, Daubechies wavelet transform.
