Laura
Cantrell
Country is interesting again. Laura Cantrell is the
reason. She has a reverse biography to the one that Samatha Mathis had in
Bogdanovich's movie A Thing Called Love. Cantrell took her guitar and
left Nashville for New York City. There she worked in WFMU
which was really an ideal place for her traditionalised vision of country
music, as far from the current commertial Nashville country as from the dominant
alter-counrty scene. She is already big in London. John Peel is head over
heels with her. Now it is the time for the rest of the world to discover her.
