LSUAWM Student Chapter

Welcome to the LSU AWM Student Chapter Website!

This is the website of the Louisiana State University Student Chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics. The Chapter was formed at the end of Fall 2008 and was approved by the AWM on December 22, 2008. After lying dormant since 2015, a devoted team of mathematicians breathed new life into the chapter in 2024. We owe our present existence to Rachel Myers, Gowri Sunkara, Christian Ennis, Huong Vo, Nuwanthi Samarawickrama, and our past and present sponsor Christin Bibby.
Our charter may be found at www.math.lsu.edu/~awm/charter.pdf. This document serves as the constitution of the student chapter and provides bylaws and protocols for its operations. Additionally, here are the Old Bylaws of our Student Chapter: This is the document we sent to the AWM to form our Chapter.
The Student Chapters of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) serve as a mechanism for all students, regardless of major or gender, to be exposed to the world of professional mathematics, to obtain information about the varied career options in mathematics, to network with professional mathematicians, and to develop leadership skills.
We'll have meetings and events during the semester and post about them under Recent Posts. Please click on the links above to find out about our members, how to become a member, view photos, and more!

To encourage women and girls to study and to have active careers in the mathematical sciences, and to promote equal opportunity and the equal treatment of women and girls in the mathematical sciences.
