Department Math ID and the LSU MyLSU ID
Some Math department systems and services are accessed using your department-provided Math ID (which is separate from your MyLSU ID). Your Math ID includes network account file storage (the "Linux home directory") that is automatically backed up by our servers.
Note: Your Math ID might have the same username as your MyLSU ID (and you might even choose to keep the passwords synchronized); nonetheless, they are independent accounts. Each particular computing system on campus requires precisely one or the other: department-specific systems require a Math ID, whereas campus-wide systems require a MyLSU ID. Depending on your status and needs, you might have only a Math ID (e.g., a temporary research visitor participating in math computations), only a MyLSU ID, or both. Most individuals affiliated with the department will have both.
