Graduate Student Day and Orientation Conference - 2001

Early each Fall Semester, the Department's faculty hosts an event to welcome all the new graduate students and all the returning graduate students to the new academic year. This year Graduate Student Day was held Saturday, September 29, at Tickfaw State Park. The park is about 30 miles East of Baton Rouge, and free bus service was provided for those preferring not to drive. Faculty members from six departmental research groups gave survey talks about research opportunities for graduate students. Coffee and refreshments were provided during the talks, and there was a delicious picnic lunch at mid-day. Also, there was time to talk and get acquainted.
