GAANN Grant awarded to Department. A half million dollar grant from the US Department of Education for the support Doctoral Fellowships with stipends above $26,000 per year has begun in August 2004. |
University Tuition Phase-out Nears Completion. Students with full graduate assistantships pay only one third of the State-Resident Tuition Rate. Beginning in fall 2005, no tuition will be paid by full graduate assistants. |
New Departmental Records in Financial Aid and Enrollment. Increased funding for Graduate Assistantships, Graduate School Enhancements and Supplements, Research Grants and Fellowship Grants have raised financial aid for graduate students in the academic year 2004-5 to $1.4 million. The Department enrolls 90 graduate students. |
Second Consecutive Dissertation-Year Fellowship Award. A Mathematics Department Graduate Student has won the prestigious Graduate School Dissertation-Year Fellowship for the academic year 2004-5. The Department had a winner of this award also in 2003-4. That student, now a PhD-graduate, is a research post-doctoral fellow in a European Union-sponsored HARP (harmonic analysis) research project at Universität Paderborn in Germany. |
