PhD Research Assistant Positions at Louisiana State University: One or more graduate Research Assistant positions are available in systems and controls, as part of Prof. Malisoff's US National Science Foundation and Office of Naval Research funded research projects. Prof. Malisoff will consider applicants from all colleges and universities, but students from outside LSU must first be granted admission to LSU before being eligible to work on the research projects, and international students may first need to obtain visas. The projects would provide each student with a stipend of at least approximately $20,000 and a full tuition remission per school year, with continued availability of this support for up to 3 years contingent on satisfactory progress by the students and the availability of funds. The positions would only be available to students working towards their PhDs at LSU under Prof. Malisoff's direction, in engineering or in math. For math PhD students, no prerequisite background in engineering is required. Engineering PhD students could be co-advised by an engineering professor and Prof. Malisoff. Applicants should send malisoff@lsu.edu their CV with contact information for 3 references, a statement of interest, and a list of courses taken. Applicants not already admitted to LSU should also follow the graduate admission application rules from http://sites01.lsu.edu/wp/graduateschool/, and should write in their graduate school applications why they are interested in working towards a PhD under Prof. Malisoff's direction. Prof. Malisoff does not have authority to grant admission to LSU. Applicants may be considered for an RA job starting as early as Spring 2022. Math PhD students who already passed their qualifying exams are especially strongly encouraged to apply. LSU is committed to diversity and is an equal opportunity and equal access employer.
