Tests and Exam:

No books or notes are permitted.  All cell phones must be turned off and kept in backpacks during any test or exam. No make-up exams will be given unless a compelling documented excuse is presented. Make-up tests or exams could be completely different from the original ones. Your lowest test score will be replaced by your final exam score if it is higher. You are taking this course under the guideline of LSU Code of Student Conduct . The University has clear policies requiring academic honesty.  If there is clear evidence that a student has committed fraud to advance his/her academic status (e.g. cheating on a test or exam), your instructor will report to the Office of the Dean of Students.

Homework:

Homework will be assigned weekly on this course homepage. Only selected problems will be graded but students are required to complete all the assigned problems. Some problems will be explained in class if the instructor finds it necessary. The questions in the tests and final exam will be similar to those homework problems. Students are recommended to work in groups on the homework, but each student should write up his/her own solutions on paper. Assignments must be written neatly so that the grader can read them.

Attendance and class preparation:

Regular attendance is required for this course. You should make every effort not to miss any classes and complete all the homework in a timely fashion. It is your responsibility to catch up with missed lectures. You are responsible for the announcements made in class.

General Advice:

The amount of material to be covered in this course is substantial. To do well in this class, students are recommended to spend at least two hour each day on reading the sections covered, reviewing notes and working assigned homework.
