The goal in this project is to control the shape of droplets so that the liquid-solid interface (i.e. the footprint of the droplet) matches a desired shape. Here are movies showing a gradient flow scheme for finding the local substrate surface tensions that drive the equilibrium droplet toward the desired shape. Each frame of the movie is one step in the gradient flow scheme.
