"Beyond partial differential equations: A course on linear and quasi-linear abstract hyperbolic evolution equations" by Horst Beyer will be published by Springer Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Mathematics series. The book introduces to the theory of linear and nonlinear (quasi-linear) abstract evolution equations of the hyperbolic type by methods from the theory of strongly continuous semigroups. Throughout the book, detailed examples are given of applications to hyperbolic partial differential equations occurring in problems of current theoretical physics, in particular to Hermitian hyperbolic systems.
