Jeremy Tillay, math major, wins first prize in LSU Undergraduate Research Conference

Math major Jeremy Tillay received the first prize in the Level 1 Math and Physical Science category of the LSU Undergraduate Research Conference on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012.

His poster, entitled "Resonance Between Bound States and Radiation in Lattices", investigated fourth-order lattice dynamics as a model for a physical phenomenon in which impurity states resonate with radiation states in crystals.  He had worked on this poster last summer with Prof. Stephen Shipman under the auspices of the STEM program, and presented it at the SURF (Summer Undergraduate Research Forum) in July 2012.
