Professor Michael Malisoff was named Roy Paul Daniels Professor of Mathematics. He received his PhD in 2000 and came to LSU in 2001. Michael Malisoff contributed more than 70 publications to control theory and its applications. His first book Constructions of Strict Lyapunov Functions appeared in 2009 (Springer).
Michael Malisoff is on the editorial boards of IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control and Systems and Control Letters. He has been awarded more than one million dollars in federal research grants as principal investigator, including two 3-year grants from the NSF Mathematical Sciences Priority Area Program. One of his current projects involves the design of controllers for marine robots that can be used to search for residual pollution from oil spills.
