2013 Goldwater Scholarship for Math major Bruno Beltran; Honorable Mention for Paxton Turner

Bruno Beltran, LSU Math major, was awarded a 2013 Goldwater Scholarship.
The Barry M. Goldwater scholarship is considered the most prestigious scholarship for sophomores and juniors; each year nationwide about 300 are awarded. Each university is only allowed to nominate four candidates per year to receive the scholarship. Since 1991 a total of 30 scholarships were awarded to LSU undergraduate students. Bruno Beltran worked as Chancellor's Future Leader in Research under Professor Frank Neubrander. His career goal is to receive a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics working on computational fluid dynamics.  

At the same contest, Math Major Paxton Turner received an Honorable Mention.
His career goal is to pursue a Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics, and conduct research in algebraic geometry.
