Bertrand Langrand and Julian Berthe from the Materials and Structures department at ONERA, the French aerospace research center, will be spending a week at the department of Mathematics at LSU in October. Bertrand Langrand is the scientific deputy director of the department.
The purpose of their visit is to learn about Prof. Bourdin's work on variational phase field models of fracture and its open-source software implementation. Together, they will lay the ground for collaborative work on characterization and numerical simulation of fracture of aerospace materials, one of the center’s primary activities.
