LSU students compete on the Putnam Exam

Six LSU students placed in the top 30% nationwide in the Putnam Mathematics Competition, led by Nathan Bush, whose score of 20 points placed him in the top 16%.  This annual competition is based on a day-long exam that is given each December.  This year nearly 4500 students from 400 colleges and universities participated, and out of a possible 120 points, the median score was 1.  The coordinating faculty member is Professor Karl Mahlburg.
