Graduate Information

GEAUX Topology

This page will function as a way for graduate students in the Topology Group to communicate information to other graduate students, who may not already be on the Topology Group email list.

Contact Oliver Dasbach, kasten@math.lsu.edu, if you would like to be added to this list.

GEAUX Research

In an effort to create a stronger graduate student community, we'd like to post upcoming conferences that our graduate students are attending. This should encourage younger graduate students to attend more conferences earlier in order to help them select an area of study.

GEAUX Orientation Program

The current LSU Mathematics graduate students welcome and orient the incoming graduate students with a two week program taking place at the end of summer preceding the start of fall semester classes.

GEAUX Do Things

LSU is known throughout the United States for its sports program. Baton Rouge has a variety of coffee shops, parks, and activities.

Distinguished Dissertation Award

Each year the Alumni Association sponsors the Distinguished Dissertation Award. Two awards are given, one of which is for the sciences. Professors who have had a PhD graduate with a distinguished dissertation during the 12 months from January through December of the current year may nominate the student using the Distinguished Dissertation Nomination Form with instructions. Nominations should be turned in to the Graduate Director of the Department. The Department will forward nominations to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, who will select several to submit to the Graduate School for the final screening.
