David Oxley Graduate Student Teaching Award

David Grieve Oxley This award was introduced as the Graduate Student Teaching Award in Fall, 1994. In Spring, 1998,  following the death of David Grieve Oxley at the age of twenty, the award was renamed in his memory.  David was the son of James and Judith Oxley and younger brother of Margaret. James has been a member of the Mathematics Department since 1982. This award is given each semester. In the Fall, those eligible are senior graduate students, those who have been in the Mathematics graduate program for more than two years. In the Spring, those eligible are junior graduate students, those who are not senior. A student may win both the junior and senior awards but cannot win the junior or senior award more than once. The award carries a cash stipend of $500 funded by contributions from faculty and former students and endowed in 2000 by the Oxley family.
